Traveling from New Zealand to Ireland: What You Need to Know
As a New Zealand citizen, you do not currently need a visa to enter the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland for tourism.
Your passport must be valid up to the return date of your trip. While e-passports are common, they are not a requirement for entry.
Starting April 2, 2025, New Zealanders (and other non-visa-required nationals) will need an ETA to travel to Northern Ireland. This applies whether you travel there directly or cross the border from the Republic of Ireland.
Airlines and ferry companies always require photo identification (usually a passport or driver's license). It is recommended to check specific requirements with your carrier before you depart.
If you are interested in more than just a holiday, you can inquire about a Working Holiday Authorisation (WHA) through your local Irish embassy or consulate.
